• We met the other girls who would be dancing and the one man who would be on the float. He was playing the part of the master of a harem or something. He was a dark-skinned guy named Benedito or "Benny". Other members of the crewe were in the double cab of the tractor truck that pulled the float. The applause and cheering I got were amazing and thrilling. I was in the spirit of the festival and enjoyed the wild crowd. With my white, relatively untanned skin, I was really popular.
